Will it affect how my liner holds?
This is the right question to ask. NubRub is formulated to absorb rather than sit on top of the skin as a slippery film, so for most users liner suspension is unaffected once it has absorbed. Give it one to two minutes before donning, and do not apply a thick layer. If you use a suction or vacuum system, patch test and check your suspension tolerance on a short wear day first, and ask your prosthetist if you are unsure.
Can I wear it under my liner all day?
Yes, that is what it is designed for. A thin layer before donning. Many people also apply a heavier layer at night, without the liner, to let the skin recover.
How long does a jar actually last?
A 4 oz jar is about 30+ days with daily use. The 2 oz travel size is roughly two weeks. The 6 oz is about six weeks. If you are going through it much faster than that, you are probably using more than you need — a thin layer is enough.
Is it safe for sensitive skin?
It is 100% natural with no petroleum, parabens or fillers, and it does not contain synthetic fragrance — the scent comes from the essential oils. That said, essential oils and lanolin are both things some people react to. Always patch test on a small area of intact skin for 24 hours before full use, and stop if you get any reaction.
Does it get rid of the old-bandage smell?
It targets the source rather than masking it. The essential oil blend is aimed at the bacteria that cause odor, and because the balm is breathable rather than occlusive, it does not seal moisture in the way petroleum-based products do. Odor is also a hygiene signal — if the smell persists, check your liner cleaning routine and talk to your prosthetist.
Can I use it on broken skin or a wound?
No. Do not apply it to broken skin, an open wound or a blister. This is a cosmetic balm for intact skin. If you have skin breakdown, ulceration or signs of infection, contact your prosthetist or physician — do not treat it yourself.
How fast does it ship, and what does shipping cost?
Orders ship from Jacksonville, Florida, usually within two business days. Standard shipping is a flat $6, and any order over $60 ships free. Free samples ship for the cost of shipping only.
